Why should I work at Play Awhile?
Balance: At Play Awhile, we understand that being a therapist is only one part of your identity. We want you to feel passion for the work you do here, but also to leave your work behind when you go home. Actually, we use the term “Life-Work Balance” instead of “Work-Life Balance”, because we know your work can only be top-notch if you have time to enjoy your life. With this in mind, we shut down our practice for two weeks every quarter, and also keep our work weeks short. Paid time off to enjoy your families and hobbies is essential to happy and effective employees.
Respect: We consider our practice to be radically neurodiversity-affirming. The current wave of the disability rights movement indicates that we must, above all else, respect the clients we serve. This means we do not use any applied-behavioral-analysis techniques, and instead opt for child-led play and connections as the conduit for our sessions. Through our work, we also advocate for change at the community level by teaching our communities that neurodivergent play and socialization may be different, but it’s not wrong. At Play Awhile, you know you’ll be on the right side of history.
Community: Play Awhile prides itself on providing a playful, happy environment for our clients AND staff. Support with clinical questions, problem solving, paperwork, and more is available readily and enthusiastically. The unique play-based approach to therapy means you will spend your time authentically connecting with your clients while having fun and inspiring growth.
Fun: Therapy never feels like “work” here. We PLAY, and it is awesome.
